"The bitterest tears shed over graves
are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone."
-Harriet Beecher Stowe
The gentleman with a wisp of gray hair carefully combed across a smooth scalp caught my eye as he stood during a church tribute honoring our brave veterans. Observing his head bowed and trembling, I wondered what memories evoked the plaintive tears surging down his face. What war-time events of more than sixty years ago were still capable of eliciting such profound emotion? I have since learned just what those tears represent and am honored to share this man's journey of loss and love, of fear and faith, of horror and hope, and most of all, of God's grace, in the pages of Fighting For Delphine.
